So Many Free Things To Do at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre

Not only does the Helen Schuler Nature Centre have wonderful exhibits and rooftop gardens for you to enjoy at no charge, between 10 am- 6 pm all week long, they have a list of other activities throughout July!  Below is a printable pdf of the activities listed here:

Big Bird Little Bird - for preschoolers and their adult - explore nature through games, crafts and activities.  Register (it is free!) starting on Monday of each week by calling 403-320-3064.  Space is limited!

Tuesdays or Wednesdays

9:30-10:30 am OR 11 am - 12 pm

  1. July 5 & 6 - ROck is Here to Stay
  2. July 12 & 13 - Spotted Ladies
  3. July 19 & 20 - Baby Birds
  4. July 26 & 27 - Use Your Common

 

Trailblazers - for ages 6-10 - nature themes explored through fun, games and discover.  Adults must sign in children to this free drop off program, and pick up promptly at noon

  2. July 12 & 13 - Celebrate Summer
  3. July 19 & 20 - Beaked Engineers
  4. July 26 & 27 - Scratch & Sniff

 

Extreme By Nature - for ages 11 - 15

July 13th

6:30 - 8:30 pm

  1. Orienteering - Find hidden treasures and have fun outside, looking for hidden treasures with maps and compasses

 

Sunday Nature Walk - for all ages, join an interpreter for a walk through the Nature Reserve

July 10th

2-3 pm

  1. The Burrowers

 

Ask A Naturalist - Look for a naturalist out on the trails to answer your nature questions

July 3, 17, 24 and 31st

1:30-2:30 pm

 

Volunteer Weed Pull - join the fight against invasive plant species and protect our local ecosystem.  This activity is ideal for adults and/or families with older children.  Gloves, bags, tools and snacks are provided.

July 21st

5-8 pm

  1. Elizabeth Hall Wetlands - meet at the parking lot

 

And don't forget about the free, interactive Main Gallery exhibit - Bumblebees - on now until October 2106, and in the gallery A World Without Bees exhibit.

Self-guided trails and maps are always available, too!
