New Better Choices Better Health Chronic Pain workshops starting this fall

The Southwest Alberta Healthy Living Program has been offering Better Choices Better Health® Chronic Disease workshops for the past 5 years. These workshops help clients explore ways to live a healthier life while coping with an ongoing health concern. Clients learn more about managing pain, fatigue and stress; making better food choices and learning how to be more active; planning and following through on goals; and taking care of their physical and emotional needs.

The Chronic Disease workshops will continue, along with a new addition this fall… the Chronic Pain workshop.

What differences are there between the Chronic Pain and Chronic Disease workshops?  Most of the information and topics covered are the same, but the Chronic Pain class has a chronic pain focus. Therefore a few topics are added: ‘What is Pain?”, “Pacing and Planning”, and “Medications for Chronic Pain”.  A Moving Easy program is also introduced and practiced in class.
